Mr. Chen Hao, governor of Yunnan Province, paid an inspection tour to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on March 19. He listened to reports on scientific research, species preservation, public education, team building, and graduate education by XTBG director Chen Jin.

    Prof. Chen Jin showed the governor and his companions around Flower Garden, Distinctive Plant Collection, Palm Garden, Commemorative Plant Garden, Vine Garden, and Scientific Research Center. Chen Jin introduced the design conception of living collections and landscape. He also talked about development of biological industry, tourism, and community environmental education with the visiting officials.

    Governor Chen Hao gave positive comment on the work of XTBG. He encouraged XTBG to lead the development of tourism in Xishuangbanna, and make greater contribution to local socioeconomic development, especially for the elite tourism township of Menglun.

    Accompanying the inspection tour were former vice governor Liu Ping, CPC secretary Chen Yuhou and governor Luo Hongjiang of Xishuangbanna, and other local officials.
