In West Hunan: Native Plants Investigation is Ongoing
In early September, 13 experts, leaded by Peng Chunliang, Party Secretary of Hunan Forest Botanical Garden, headed for Badagongshan National Nature Reserve and Tianmenshan National Forest Park in west Hunan. They aimed to invent the native plants according the list of threatened grades assessed by the experts.
After their field investigations, more than 300 species have been found, as well as collecting plant specimens 100 serial numbers. It also brought surprise when the team found some information about the new distribution of Carpesium lipskyi, wild distribution of Torreya jackii in Hunan, discovery of privet with long and shot sticks, and a species with Phoebe-like leaves and Machilus pingii-like fruits.
