7月17-18日，国际植物园保护联盟主席Stephen Blackmore教授对丽江高山植物园进行了访问，昆明植物园主任孙卫邦研究员、丽江高山植物园主任许琨高级工程师及所有职工陪同考察。
近年来，丽江站在中科院的大力支持下取得了稳步的发展，2016年丽江高山植物园启动了玉水寨大门口改造计划，Stephen Blackmore教授再参观完后对丽江高山植物园（含丽江站）近年来的发展做了充分的肯定，并对未来丽江高山植物园的发展方向给予了建设性的意见。

据悉，Blackmore教授是原英国爱丁堡皇家植物园主任，英国女王植物学家(Queen’s Botanist)，并被英国王室授予CBE勋章。Blackmore教授作为丽江高山植物园的老朋友，他感触良多，其在留言簿上这样写道：
It is always a very special opportunity for me to come to Lijiang.
I remember in 2000 we marked the site of the main buildings. We hoped that the Jade Dragon Field Station would become an important centre for research conservation and education. It has been a great success - going beyond my dreams.
For the future we should continue to develop the botanical garden and begin to restore the vegetation in the surrounding area. For the future we need to know how human beings can repair damage done in the past. We can do it and this is a great place to start.
